Pix Brook Academy is an extended secondary school currently with 900 pupils, growing to over 1,100 over the next two years. It is located on the edge of the town of Stotfold in Central Bedfordshire.
The school opened as a new free school in September 2019 with its first intake of Year 5 pupils, and in September 2025 we will have pupils from Year 5 through to Year 11. Designed as an extended secondary school, the provision for pupils is based on a model of primary education delivered by a primary specialist in KS2 with secondary specialists working with KS3 and KS4 pupils.
Working at Pix Brook Academy is an unprecedented opportunity to be involved in a genuinely exciting and innovative growth programme and have real influence and input into shaping the future development and success of this creative and rural community school. In the relatively short life of the school, it has grown to play a critical role in the community and has been over-subscribed for the last few years. In the school’s Ofsted inspection in January 2024, inspectors judged the overall effectiveness of the school to be Good with Outstanding judgements for Behaviour and Attitudes and Leadership and Management.
The school benefits from state-of-the-art facilities and a fully committed staff body within a forward thinking and highly supportive Trust. Outcomes at KS2 are significantly above the national average and expectations for the first set of KS4 outcomes are high.
At the school’s core is the moral purpose to educate the socially responsible citizens of the future. This vision for education permeates the entire school and the ethos within the school is one of aspiration and ambition for all staff and pupils.
